I want to give a special thank you to Diego, who helped me open my bank account at ASB. He assisted me both at the Queen Street and Waiheke branches, and his service was exceptional. Who says KiwiBank and ANZ are the go-to banks for backpackers? And who says Westpac is the top-tier one? For me, any bank can feel like home if there’s someone like Diego there. His friendly, clear, and genuinely helpful approach made the whole process smooth, comfortable, and even enjoyable. I felt like I was talking to a friend who truly wanted to help and guide me. Thank you, Diego. Today, I proudly carry my ASB card in my wallet and look forward to using it a thousand times!

They're always kind & helpful & somehow work out a way to accommodate my wishes (sometimes it's wishful thinking). I've just rearranged my finances & Niki did it all with care. It would take a lot for me to change banks.

Went to bank money at Waiheke ASB (after checking that it would be open on the website) on 31 May, arriving at 12.10 to find it closed with a note on the door telling those waiting that it had closed for lunch break. Also the banking machines in the foyer were also not working. When it finally opened at 1pm, I noted that there were four visible staff members (possibly more hiding in the back). When I suggested that they could have had two staff members working while the others went for lunch, was told this was not possible. Very very poor public service in my view.

Banking in NZ is just bloody useless. Branches are never open and it's getting harder to withdraw cash.

Very bad experience. Staff was very condescending regarding depositing cash into an account. Lady told me I could deposit my coins Into a machine and deposit the receipt with the notes at the counter (which I already know it just takes longer) I told Them I have a fair bit of coins and cash and she still told me to go the machine... lady at the counter was very nice but still got my total deposit wrong after giving her instructions and telling her I already told her (I just agreed with her in the end so I didn’t make a scene). Some ASBs in New Zealand are either really good or really lazy..I would have understood her asking me to use the deposit ATM if it was busy but it was not and it kinda reflected to me that there was some laziness in the mix (which I get a lot depositing around New Zealand working for a charity) but what are you gonna do. I’d rather use a deposit ATM to stop these bad customer service experiences but it takes to long with the amount that has to be deposited.

If I could give half a star I would. I love ASB, have banked with them forever but this branch really lets them down. Laziness and bad customer service are rampant and just trying to communicate with them is like pulling teeth, painful and difficult. Improve.

Never open during business hours. If this is the bew way of banking then allow us to open an account on the app!
