Editorial Standards & Data Sources

Buzdy publishes financial information that people use to make money decisions. This page sets out exactly where every number on the site comes from, how current it actually is, how we rank things, and what to do when we get something wrong.

1What Buzdy is, and what it is not

Buzdy is an independent comparison and information site for banking, cards, money transfer and everyday financial products across 567+ listed banks and brands. It is operated from Dubai, United Arab Emirates by its founder, Zia Shahid.

Regulatory status. Buzdy is not a bank, broker, lender, insurer or money-transfer business, and it is not authorised or regulated by any financial regulator in any country. We do not hold client money, we do not arrange or advise on any transaction, and nothing on this site is personal financial advice. Always confirm the current terms with the provider before you apply, and take regulated advice if you need it.

We publish three kinds of content, and we label them differently on purpose:

  • Stored facts — fees, rates, eligibility rules, branch addresses, opening hours. These are transcribed or fetched from a named source and are never estimated. Where a provider does not publish a figure, our pages say Not published rather than filling the gap.
  • Comparisons and rankings — ordered by a published rule, described in section 5 below.
  • Guidance — general explanation that names no figure, such as “what to check before you apply”.

2Where each dataset comes from — and how often it really refreshes

Most comparison sites say “data is regularly updated”. That sentence is unverifiable, so we do not use it. Below is every dataset on Buzdy, its actual origin, and its actual refresh mechanism. Where a dataset has no automated refresh job, the table says so.

DatasetSourceHow it refreshes
Branch & ATM locations, opening hours, star ratings, review counts Google Places API (Place Details). Displayed on branch pages as “Powered by Google”. Manual batches
No scheduled refresh job exists. Places data is pulled in operator-run batches, because each call is billed per request. Every branch page shows the date its hours were last verified — trust that date, not the page load date.
Card, loan, savings and insurance product attributes (annual fee, interest rate, minimum income, benefits) The issuing bank’s own published product page, transcribed into the Buzdy product database. See section 3 for how much of it we can prove. Manual batches
No scheduled refresh job exists. A market is refreshed when its catalogue is re-imported. Product pages carry the date the figure was recorded where we hold it.
US bank routing numbers (ABA, FedACH / Fedwire participation, legal names) The Federal Reserve Banks’ E-Payments Routing Directory, queried live against FedACH and Fedwire. Manual batches
Verified on import; there is no scheduled re-verification. Routing numbers change on bank mergers — always confirm with your bank before wiring funds.
Money-transfer / remittance quotes Wise’s public comparison API for provider quotes; open.er-api.com for the mid-market reference rate. Hourly, automated
A cron job re-fetches quotes every hour. Corridor pages show the fetch timestamp.
Crypto market data Public market-data endpoints, fetched server-side. Exchange links are referral links and are labelled as such on the page. Automated
Fetched at request time and cached; a cron job re-warms the trading cache every 10 minutes. Crypto prices move constantly — treat any figure on the page as indicative, not executable.
Merchant listings, descriptions and linked products Merchant records plus Google Places details; descriptions are composed from those stored fields. Weekly, automated
Regenerated every Monday from whatever is stored at that moment. The underlying Places details themselves refresh only in manual batches.
Country guides (“Best credit cards in …”) Composed entirely from the product records above. No figure in a guide is authored — it is printed from the stored attribute. Manual batches
Regenerated when the underlying market data is refreshed. Each guide carries its own “Last updated” date at the top.
Deals and offers from affiliate networks Impact.com partner feeds and comparable networks. Manual batches
Synced on demand. Offers expire without notice — always check the terms on the merchant’s page.

Read this bit. Five of the eight datasets above have no automatic refresh. That is a real limitation of a small independent site and we would rather state it than imply a schedule that does not exist. A published fee or rate on Buzdy is a record of what the provider published on the date shown — not a live feed. Before you apply for anything, confirm the number on the provider’s own page.

3How much of it we can prove, in numbers

We record the exact page a product figure came from wherever we can. We cannot yet do it for everything — older records were imported before per-fact source URLs were stored. Here is the current, live coverage, counted from the database each time this page is built:

1,413product figures with the exact source page recorded
30,329product figures stored in total
4.7%of stored figures carry a citation today
191of 2,054 products show at least one citation

Where a citation exists, it is shown to you: product pages render a “Where these figures come from” panel linking straight to the issuer’s page, and country guides list the issuer pages behind the cards they compare. Where no citation exists, the figure still came from the issuer’s published material — we simply cannot yet point you at the exact page, so we do not pretend to.

What we are doing about it. Every new or re-imported product record captures its source URL, so coverage rises with each refresh. If you find a figure you cannot verify on the issuer’s own site, tell us — that is the fastest way to get it fixed or removed.

4Where AI is used, and where it is banned

Being specific matters here, because “AI-written finance content” is exactly what a reader should be wary of.

  • AI does not write any figure. Fees, rates, eligibility rules, addresses, opening hours and routing numbers are printed from stored records that came from the sources in section 2. No language model touches them.
  • AI does not write our country guides or merchant descriptions. Those are assembled by code from stored fields — which is why they say “Not published” instead of inventing a plausible number.
  • AI is used for the on-site assistant, the optional “AI insight” panels on our calculators and crypto pages, and for answering free-text questions. Those outputs are conversational and can be wrong; they are labelled where they appear and should not be relied on as fact.

5How products are ranked

Ordering is mechanical, applied to the data we hold, and identical for every provider. In a country card guide, cards are ordered:

  1. cards with no annual fee first;
  2. then by how many benefits we can verify from the issuer’s own product page;
  3. then by the lowest published interest rate;
  4. then by the lowest published minimum income;
  5. then we rotate one card per bank, so a single issuer cannot fill the list.

A guide is only published when the market clears a minimum bar — enough products, from enough separate issuers, with enough genuinely differing values to make a comparison meaningful. Markets that fail the bar are not published rather than padded out. The longer version, with the thresholds, is on our methodology page.

Commercial relationships do not affect ranking position. No provider can pay to rank higher, to be added, or to have a competitor removed. Advertising and referral placements are labelled where they appear.

Rankings are relative to the data Buzdy holds, not to every product sold in a market. Our guides say so on the page, and give the count.

6Corrections policy

We publish thousands of figures across dozens of markets and some of them will be wrong or out of date. When that happens:

  1. Anyone can report it. Every product page, country guide and merchant page carries a “Report an error” link, and branch pages carry the same “found something wrong?” prompt. No account is needed, and you do not have to leave an email address.
  2. We check it against the source — the issuer’s published page, the Places record, or the Federal Reserve directory, whichever applies.
  3. We aim to act within five working days. A confirmed error is corrected, or the figure is removed until it can be verified. We would rather show nothing than show a wrong number.
  4. Material corrections are dated. When a page is corrected, its “Last updated” date moves, so you can see that it changed.
  5. Providers can write to us too. If you represent a bank, merchant or transfer service and a figure of yours is wrong, email [email protected] and we will correct it on the same basis as anyone else — no commercial relationship is required, and none will be requested.

We are a small team, so we do not operate a formal complaints process with statutory timescales. If a correction matters urgently, say so in the report and we will prioritise it.

7Who is accountable

Zia Shahid

Zia Shahid — Founder and Editor, Buzdy. Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Every guide byline on Buzdy is his, and he is responsible for what is published here. Full profile and what he is — and is not — qualified in.

Reaching a human

Buzdy has no external editorial board and no paid reviewers. It is a bootstrapped, independent site. We say that plainly because “our expert panel” is a claim we could not back.

8How Buzdy makes money

Buzdy is free to use and carries no paywall. It is funded by:

  • Referral commission. Some “Apply” and “Visit site” links are affiliate links. If you open an account or make a purchase through one, the provider may pay Buzdy a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are disclosed on the pages that carry them.
  • Affiliate networks. We work with Impact.com and Skimlinks, which can automatically convert some outbound merchant links into tracked links.
  • Display advertising. Google AdSense serves ads on some pages. Ad units are visually separated from editorial content and are never presented as recommendations.
  • Marketplace fees. Independent sellers can list digital products on Buzdy for a flat subscription; payments are processed by Stripe.

The line we hold: commercial relationships determine which links are tracked, not which products are listed, how they are ordered, or what we say about them. A provider with no relationship with us is listed on exactly the same terms as one that pays.

Many banks and issuers we list have no affiliate programme at all, and we still list and rank them, because leaving them out would make the comparison dishonest.

9Known limits of this site

Stated up front so you can judge how much weight to give what you read:

  • Our coverage of any market is partial. We list the products we hold verified data for, not every product on sale. Each guide gives its own count.
  • Most datasets have no automatic refresh (section 2). A figure is accurate as of the date shown beside it.
  • Only 4.7% of stored product figures currently carry a per-fact source link (section 3).
  • Google Places ratings, hours and review counts are Google’s data, not ours. We display them as supplied and cannot correct them at source.
  • Currency, tax and eligibility rules differ by country and by applicant. Nothing here is tailored to your circumstances.
