Very disappointing experience. I opened an account specifically for international remittances, but my first incoming payment was blocked without any prior notice. The branch service was extremely slow and unhelpful. I had to wait a long time just to speak to someone, and even then, I received unclear and conflicting information. Requirements were introduced that were never mentioned at account opening. On top of this, I was charged for a debit card that was never delivered. I later received a message saying the card was “returned to branch,” yet I was informed that the debit card fee would not be refunded. Despite calls, emails, and a branch visit, no clear solution or timeline was provided. For freelancers relying on international payments, this process is stressful and unprofessional. I expected much better from a bank of this scale.

It has been over a month and I am still unable to make any transactions on my account. My remittance of PKR 25,000 has been stuck for more than 25 days and Standard Chartered has done nothing to resolve it. I have made multiple calls to the helpline, but they are unable to fix even a simple issue. My account is showing “Credit Blocked”, something that should take minutes to resolve if handled professionally. I also emailed the operational manager, but he has not replied at all. This is unacceptable service from an international bank. If Standard Chartered cannot properly support freelancers with their digital accounts, they should not even offer this product. The entire system is disappointing, unprofessional, and shows no respect for customers.

One of the worst banks out there, applied for a credit card since 18th of Dec. 2024 All the process explained went down the drain and a series of excuse, discrepancies, new timelines began to the extent that all deadlines were missed whereas I had provided with every single document required from my end, and its 4th Feb 2025 now, they still do not have an exact date instead the concerned person just informed me that "the system has changed". It is funny how banking systems are so frequently changing as if they are discovering and experimenting in my case. I wish there was an option for less than one star! Do Not Apply for a credit card here please! Go for some other authentic bank. Edit: its 13th March 2025 and still no card. Please RUN This is not a bank, it is a scam!
