Went in to open a joint account and was told we couldn’t for another month because we needed an appointment, even though the branch was empty and the rooms were free. The teller said there were no available slots because some staff were on holiday, but she seemed completely uninterested in helping. She also lied, saying she couldn’t check other branches for available appointments (turns out she could; another branch confirmed it). To make things worse, if you want to call another branch to ask about appointments, you can’t call them directly. You have to go through Westpac’s main support line, who then call the branch, and then the branch calls you back. I just wanted to speak to someone directly to see if they had openings. Everything here requires an appointment, even for basic things. Completely useless experience. We ended up switching to Kiwibank instead, and what a difference. Got everything sorted in 30 minutes, no appointment needed, and the staff were genuinely lovely and he

Nice clean welcoming bank just inside the Barrington mall Simeon St entrance. Security guard checking customers signed in friendly. Bank tellers very friendly, providing thorough service. Maybe a little understaffed on the front desk. Once being served also excellent service

Historically always been a bad place to bank. Aged tellers who have an attitude and can be quite rude, so much for customer service. Always plenty of people walking around and sitting in offices, but the front desks are always under-staffed and there is always a long line, with someone pushing clients to use an ATM. I have had enough of this and am voting with my feet, and am closing my account today. ASB is far better with their customer service at any branch compared to Westpac Barrington. Goodbye to tellers with a attitude!

FIRST HOME BUYERS BEWARE. My, now ex-mortgage broker recommended Westpac (as they were probably really profitable to him). Terrible customer service (Rude, incompetent with no low knowledge of their own products), extremely long phone waiting times (had to wait 3 hours once for a call back), borderline fraudulent phone app (removes the ability to manually increase fortnightly payments after refix). You would think after making a profit of $963 million they would be able to sharpen some pencils. Worst decision not staying with Kiwibank.

waited for 20 minutes only to be told that I needed to have an appointment to open an account! Then the service agent asked me, 'Why do you need to open an account with Westpac? Do you already have an account with another bank? Why u need to open Westpac?' The bank service agent, who is in their forties-fifties, has a robust build, has a very poor attitude. This bank employee questioned me with an angry tone, which felt quite absurd, as if the bank was her own. It turns out that having customers willing to come to your bank to open an account isn't a good thing! Disgusting service attitude, inefficient service methods, definite thumbs down
