The staff member at the Foreign Exchange desk was incredibly friendly and helpful; however, the actual exchange process is a total disaster. I had to wait an entire hour after handing over my money just to receive my Rand. While the service was kind, the efficiency is non-existent.

Really disappointing experience today. On arrival there was no one available to assist, just a single teller, and no communication at all about wait times or how long we’d be sitting there. When I eventually got to the counter, there wasn’t even a greeting. I was then told I couldn’t close my account due to unprocessed payments, something that was never made clear beforehand and isn’t exactly obvious to a customer trying to close an account. Overall, it felt disorganised, impersonal, and like a complete waste of time. Basic communication and customer care would have made a huge difference. Even more reason for me closing my account and not having to deal with ABSA again.

Absa still apparently own a car I paid off years ago and hold my Natis document. Came into branch and was told to see a consultant. Waited 40 minutes until someone directed me to a phone that was sitting there all along. Tried twice to get through to an agent but was cut off and told by the voice message they close at 1pm on Saturdays. It’s currently 12.10pm. How is this bank still a thing?

Easy to see why their average rating is 1.8. - both staff and equipment are sub par. I went into the branch to do a simple change of address & reactivate of an account. TWENTY minutes in front of a very unmotivated & uninspiring consultant, delivered zero results despite scanning my fingerprints more than FIVE times. Avoid

I absolutely dread having to do anything at this branch as it’s always at least half an hour before you can speak to a consultant or teller, and even then solutions and service are rarely satisfactory.
