My mother lost her purse and needed to stop her card. No in call app and took us almost 45 minutes and still the lady on the phone had not yet stopped her card. Talking about procedure etc when we clearly provided ID details and card number. Stopping a card needs to be a swift action to prevent any unnecessary fraud. ABSA you are totally pathetic when it comes to this action which should be absolute priority. We now have to drive down to the bank and look for parking stand in the queue etc before finally getting the card stopped. The most shocking experience I have ever had. I cannot believe any registered bank service could be this awful. Staff is rude, slow, unwilling to help or answer questions and in all honesty under qualified. I came in to change my expired account from a student debit to a new account. This process took two hours and I was still asked to come back to finalise it. A week later I came back, sat here for an hour to “finalise” for the woman to end up telling me she cannot do anything for me I need to go the other bank. She wont answer my questions and she will sit on the phone talking about me being rude, not understanding, being difficult as if I'm not right here being patient and calm. Directly told me it’s not her problem as if it’s not her job. I wish I could give a name, but in both visits she hasn't even bothered to introduce herself. Most people work and they can't open on saturdays like every other bank? They don't want to serve us, they are too greedy to provide even the illusion of service in exchange for robbing us blind. Please don't ignor these endless bad reviews This google map says they are open on Saturdays and won't be corrected And it will cause endless people to competely waste their precious free time . They don't care how much they charge us. As for their so called fraud department, they don't accept their own banks stamped and dated copies of transaction histories which they are incapable of getting themselves? They require original copies of bank stamped statements to be certified by a commissioner of oaths and once they have those, they then need u to lay a criminal case of fraud with the police. They stopped my card themselves on suspicion of (onvious) fraud because I had no idea. They had stopped sending notifications of card and other transactions without even informing customers so that

This is way to slow for an absa bank that charges premiums. I just waited 2 hours to be helped. That is pathetic service in my opinion. Once I was helped the service was very good and efficient. Please sort out your waiting times and add more consultants, tellers and help desk staff. This is a very popular and convenient branch for thousands of clients and serving the whole of City Bowl. Please expand this branch and sort it out. Also this branch is closed on the weekends except for first and last Saturday of the month, what is that?? Most of us work and can only come in during the weekends, so its very frustrating when you are closed on a Saturday, its the worst. Please open your doors every Saturday.

I have had more problems with ABSA and specifically this branch than I can count. I have banked in multiple countries on multiple continents and this is the worst bank I've ever encountered. They won't even let me close my account at this branch (where I opened it) and told me to drive all the way to Claremont. Save yourself many headaches and days of pain and run to any other bank.
