Incredibly helpful people for a foreign student!
I can fully understand W.F.R.'s frustration. The new so-called debit card is a real no-go. The bank's defense isn't helping at all. I used to always get cash when shopping, but that's no longer possible with the new card! The people at the checkout look at me pityingly, as if my account were empty. I live in Freiburg-Tiengen, and during the day, the walk to the bank takes over an hour one way. So I'm on the road for half a day just to withdraw €100! I don't even want to comment on the opening hours of the Freiburg branch—they're a disgrace! I moved here from Munich, where there was a branch on every corner.
Disastrous. I've been a customer for 32 years. Now they're replacing my trusty EC card with a useless debit card that isn't accepted by many places, most recently not even by my pharmacy. We've all had similar experiences with credit cards. Now I have to pay €12 to get a Girocard back, which at least allows me to pay cashless everywhere again. Profit at the expense of the customers. Outrageous. For an investment product that was aggressively advertised for weeks, I'm first supposed to grant extensive permission to analyze my payment data. Without this, no promotional interest. That's outrageous too. What was once the good old Hypobank is now just a customer-unfriendly bureaucracy, even if the employee in charge tries very hard. But as they say, the fish rots from the head down. What a shame.
I had a phone appointment where my problem seemed to be resolved. Less than two weeks later, a similar problem has arisen with my savings account. Again, after a long wait, I was connected to three different employees, but none of them could help. I was asked to call back the next day, insisted on a callback, which never came, and when I inquired again, I was told that the problem still wasn't resolved and that I would eventually receive a callback. When? How much longer am I supposed to wait? No helpful answer.
My account was blocked for no reason, and this bank has caused me significant damages. I will now sue this bank for damages!
