The Co-operative Bank - Southampton 61 Above Bar Street Southampton

Disgusting treatment at Co-op Bank, Southampton. Not reliable and poor customer service. Website stated branch closes at 3pm. Travelled over an hour to find branch closed with sign on the door saying it closed at 1.45pm due to "staff shortages". Even worse an elderly couple were also standing at the door who had travelled a long time to get to the branch but had the door shut in their face at 1.45pm. There were banking staff still in the branch and workmen spent several hours after 1.45pm modifying the store front. Either their staff are highly unreliable or they are too lazy to put the correct info. on their website. I am so glad to be closing my account. I won't bother to bank with them ever again.

Only open 4hrs 4 days a week totally useless for people that work fulltime. Can't pay in cash or cheques online so it's a pretty useless branch considering the opening hours of the other banks in the area. Hardly any staff.

Really superb service at the Southampton branch of Cooperative Bank following a bereavement. Special thanks to manager Sam who made the whole process of shutting accounts etc so easy - nice to have such pleasant customer service with a smile, especially on a day when they were so short staffed through reasons beyond their control.

Visiting the Co-Operative bank - Southampton branch - always a positive experience. At a time when other banks are forcing customers to use online banking, banking Apps on mobiles, then warning us about the prolific fraud and scams on these systems; always a pleasure to be served by human beings at branch, dealing with financial transactions. Southampton staff always professional, helpful, engaging and knowledgeable. In Particular, Erica, Leanne Smith and Taran Soor have been really helpful and given exceptional customer service. Over time, have built up a rapport with them. They understand my banking needs and offer the best advise. I feel confident I can trust their advice.

Disappointed with the opening times and total closure on a Thursday!
