The Co-operative Bank - Leeds 19 20 Commercial Street

BEWARE! This branch does not offer the full banking services which the Coop advertises for its branches, despite Leeds being a major city. You cannot see a person in the flesh to open a savings account here, not that this was evident on the website. The nearest you will get is a video link to someone in Huddersfield and not on that day because this has to be booked. No branch any longer in Bradford so, with limited mobility and 2 bus rides to negotiate, trailed over to Leeds only to be offered a video call the following day. No manager was there in the Leeds branch to speak to. After over 50 years with the Coop, took my money elsewhere and opened an account with a local Building Society instead - what a contrast. Saw a clued up lady within 5 minutes, was offered a by now much needed cuppa, and set up an account with no hassle at all and at virtually the same rate of interest.

Couldn't find my bank card so thought to be safe I'd report it as lost.. This was on 5th Dec..Thought it could be put on hold but had to cancel the card and have a new one sent out. New card arrived on Tues 10th Dec and I'm now waiting for a PIN number to access my money via an ATM.. I can't believe in the technological age we are living in a PIN number cannot be sent to my phone so I can access my money as the hours I work means I cannot make in into a branch to get my money.. No wonder people keep their hard earned money under the mattress where it's so easily accessible.... One unhappy and frustrated customer. ..

Ever since I've opened an account with them I've had nothing but trouble. I've had 4 different cards as they just stop working after a week. My account has been hacked and every penny taken several times. I wish I had looked at these reviews before I opened an account.

I’m uncomfortable writing a poor review but l feel that l should because the attitude and the customer service is so poor that l I’m surprised that any one uses this branch. I don’t want to go into what happened at that branch because l found my experience horrendous, some of the staff are the most grumpiest people ive ever had the misfortune to come across,even though I have an account with the co-op I try not go in , l use Barclays around the corner whose staff have obviously been trained to high standard and are happy to cater to all their clients needs.

We had issues applying for a mortgage - Platform somehow managed to lose us on the system and we had been waiting weeks for paperwork to come through. We'd had no luck with calling them. We popped in to branch and Josh BLESS HIM sat on the phone for 2.5 hours, at one point being kept on hold for 25 minutes. It still wasn't resolved so he told us he would keep trying and call us when he'd sorted it - which he did, an hour later. He's an absolute gem. Thank you Josh 💎
