Shawbrook Bank One 4 Stanley Street

Posting as Jinnie Edwards - just wanted to move some money from Shawbrook - lots of messages about making the website easier to use...absolute rubbish. I got logged out twice while linking my account to my bank account, then had to do that twice, then had to call a call centre somewhere abroad - 13 mins on the phone, the lady was helpful, just didn't know how to do it. Not the way to run a bank!

Disgraceful customer service. I was helping my parents pull some of their financial data together, mum called to ask for a statement (not available on their website), after being on hold 15 minutes she was cut off part way through security, called back (on hold again at least 15 mins), without even checking any more details than her name, the man on the phone was incredibly rude, told he the didn't believe she was the account holder and cut her off with no further discussion. Called back again (20 minutes on hold), the lady she spoke to said an alert had been triggered on the account and she was unable to discuss anything with her, mum tried to ask for advice as to how she was supposed to confirm and access her account, she was again cut off. Fourth time, a helpful lady spoke with myself and both of my parents to resolve the issue, but a complete joke. Absolutely no excuse for the rudeness of the man she spoke to either.

Avoid. I was misled by their Trustpilot rating but this is manipulated by invited posts from new customers, not a realistic reflection of their disregard for existing customers. There are much better providers with much better customer service, eg Oaknorth & Vanquis.

I was 100% likely to be approved on Credit Karma's web site for a consolidation loan. I applied through the website to avoid any confusion and Shawbrook turned me down with no explanation. Avoid at all costs

Few checks when you deposit money but make you jump through hoops to withdraw your own cash to the account you've been depositing from for months. Expects you to click links in an email to verify even though email is not a secure method of communication. Poor security protocols and poor service. Withdrew from another similar bank and had the cash within minutes. Go elsewhere!
