The Korea Development Bank (KDB) is a state-owned policy bank, established in 1954 and wholly owned by the South Korean government, with the mission of promoting industrial development and advancing the national economy. Since its founding, KDB has played a central role in Korea’s economic growth—supporting national reconstruction and development finance in the 1950s–70s after the Korean War, providing long-term corporate financing to restructure industrial sectors in the 1980s–90s, and expanding into Investment Banking (IB) services from the 2000s onward. Today, KDB stands as South Korea’s leading policy financial institution and a prominent international bank.
