Went to the HNB Kadawatha branch to inquire about exchanging LKR to Euros, and the experience was honestly shocking. From the moment I walked in, the staff acted like I was a burden. The counter staff was extremely rude and dismissive, and when I asked a simple question about the exchange process, she didn’t even bother to respond properly. She passed me over to the branch manager, hoping for better help—but instead, I got even worse treatment. His tone was sarcastic and unprofessional, like my questions weren’t worth answering. No courtesy, no proper explanation—just pure attitude. After asking several times, they finally said they could only offer USD 500. That’s not even the issue—the way they communicated it was the real problem. If they can’t help, they could’ve at least spoken respectfully. Customers deserve to be treated with basic decency. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. Very disappointed with how I was treated.

HNB - Kadawatha main branch, situated at Kadawatha town. Provides usual bank facilities. ATM and CDM available. Parking is available for 4, 5 vehicles in the back of the bank, which is not very useful. In inside, about 3 counters and about 10 waiting seats are available. Neat and clean office. Staff is efficient and supportive.

I visited the HNB Kadawatha branch yesterday to open an account for investment purposes. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The officer who attended to me was overly insistent that I must install the HNB mobile app in order to open the account — even after I clearly explained multiple times that I did not require it. As someone who has worked with multiple banks, I expected a more respectful and customer-oriented approach. The attitude I experienced made me feel as though customers are not treated with proper respect or understanding at this branch. It felt like our concerns and preferences don’t matter — as if we are being looked down upon. This is not what I expect from a reputed financial institution like HNB. I hope the management takes steps to ensure staff treat customers with more courtesy and flexibility.

It’s very challenging to enter the bank premises from the car park, and they have closed the easiest way for valued customers, and the customer has to go from outside the roadway back to the main road and enter the bank. I don’t know who has made this kind of decision in the HNB kadawatha branch.

I visited the HNB Kadawatha branch recently for a personal banking matter and was shocked by a deeply inappropriate incident that unfolded in front of customers. An individual, i think he is an Assistant Bank Manager, publicly accused a female staff member of working under the influence —right in front of customers and colleagues. The accusation was made without any discretion or professionalism, clearly humiliating the staff member and creating extreme discomfort for everyone present, including myself. From what I witnessed, this incident amounted to a form of verbal abuse and sexual harassment in the workplace. When I later spoke privately with that staff member to ask if she is OK, she did not say much but smiled and assisted me politely and professionally with my banking matter. It was truly disappointing to witness such unprofessional and humiliating behavior in a reputed bank like HNB. I sincerely hope the female staff member reports this incident to the relevant authorities w
