I tried to contact the Absa branch at Mall at Red in Pretoria telephonically and was holding on for more than 10 minutes on 3 separate occasions om 23 February 2026. By now I know all about all their product offerings and even manage to read all the reviews of the previous customers. Can not even imagine what the inhouse service is like if they do not even answer their main telephone line. Not impressed as this is not my experience with Absa in general.

What a great experience today. Even though there were system issues Nelly didn't give up on sorting out our issue. It's already long after closing time and she is still busy helping us. Thank you (Nelly deserves a promotion!)

Absa Mall @ Reds, let's talk. My recent visit was less a banking experience and more a masterclass in how not to run a branch. I walked in, like many others, expecting to be, you know, helped. Instead, I got an hour of my life back, but not in a good way. It was an hour spent watching consultants do absolutely nothing. The systems were online, glowing with potential, yet the people paid to use them were engaged in what appeared to be a deep, personal struggle with the concept of client interaction. The queue wasn't long, only 6 clients but it was stagnant. A monument to inaction. And then, the cherry on top: when I enquired why there was a delay, I was told that it's "month-end." "Clients should expect to wait". Excuse me? This wasn't about waiting in a queue; this was about no one being assisted at all. It had nothing to do with volume and everything to do with a complete lack of effort. One consultant even popped out to inform us they were "still discussing something." Discussing wh

I thought there was something wrong with their systems when I came to this branch over a month ago. Same thing and even worse today. Over 45minutes wait with only 3 people in front of me last month. Today we’ve been here for an hour and 15minutes the consultants are still with the same people. This is pathetic and they should change their ways of doing work.

Absolutely one of the worst experiences. Staff is slow and inefficient. Especially the help desk. Went there to link my home loan account to my internet banking profile which they helped me create at the branch. Stood in a super long queue for hours! Literally had to end up taking time off from work to do this. I was told that the home loan account would show on my banking app after the account was activated. Only to find that it was not linked in the first place and now I have to go back there and relink it again!
