I told the young lady at the reception that I prefer communicating in English. She rudely told me that she cannot open a bank account unless I speak good French. I told her that I could also speak French, and still she continued to question me "if my french was good enough" when I was literally communicating in French with her. She then told me that I wasn't eligible to open an account because of the rules in my native country so I left. A day later I went to BNP Paribas at Brant, the staff were so kind and I had no problem opening my account.

If there was an award for the most unhelpful staff, they would’ve won it multiple times

I am quite satisfied with the service, but it seems like they don't have enough reception for international people. And I have had so many technical issues with my account. So maybe they can improve in that aspect.

As soon as my husband and I entered the bank approximately 2 months ago, we immediately felt welcome and at home. The receptionist Carine is warm, friendly and professional, not to mention patient with my French. Without an appointment were able to immediately open a joint personal account with the very friendly and professional Monsieur Bayer who provided excellent customer service. Two days later, he helped us set up a savings account. We recently returned, to open individual professional bank accounts as well. My husband and I have had a stellar experience at BNP Paribas, Rue du Dôme and highly recommend it to Americans having difficulties opening a French bank account in Strasbourg. There is an expression: "Money goes where money feels welcome." That says it all.
