Exceptional Service at ABSA Tygervalley – A Huge Thank You to Candice Jacobs! I recently had the pleasure of visiting the ABSA branch at Tygervalley Centre, and I have to say: this is how banking should be done! After experiencing the absolute worst run-around from another bank (Nedbank Student Loans), where my complete application sat unacknowledged for weeks despite countless calls with promises of callbacks that never came, I decided to try ABSA. From the moment I walked in, the team was welcoming and professional. Special shout-out to Candice Jacobs – she was incredibly friendly, genuinely helpful, and took charge immediately. She processed my daughters student loan application right there on the spot with efficiency, clear communication, and zero hassle. No endless waiting, no dropped calls, no "someone will call you back" nonsense. Candice made the entire process smooth and stress-free, and I walked out feeling valued as a customer. Good morning. I have just left your branch where i received very unfriendly leaning towards disrespectful behavior from Janine Spence. I came for bank verification. What she had said was very different to what the previous bank had informed me and I therefore seeked clarity. This was met with annoyance and a superiority of knowing better. I then expressed how unhappy I was with how she had dealt with me. The response was smirk followed by a good giggle with the next client. Very unprofessional.

Receptionist was absolutely rude, incompetent and no help at all. Just went to unfreeze and close bank account and she said she will help and started the process. Later told me she can not help me and sent me to another branch when I got there she didnt even start the application to unfreeze my acount eventhough she could. Then had to wait in line again at another bramch to restart the whole process. She was helping multiple people at once making them stand around the reception desk while jumping between them and calls eventhough the customer service was open. Only spoke afrikaans to everyone and was even rude to the people over the phone. (Receptionist was old, white afrikaans lady)

A ridiculously long wait today. A massive massive branch, but not enough customer service consultants helping everyone, who like me, can't be helped by the call centre or online. The branch feels like a massive banquet hall... Absa could easily rent a smaller space at a fraction of the cost, and employ more customer service staff for the same money they spending monthly now. It's ridiculous how badly they look after their clients. Not client orientated at all, although the lady who helped me today, was extremely friendly, but it still took her half an hour to download and complete 2 forms. In response to the Absa's reply: To every negative review you ask us, as clients to now also submit our concerns or complaints at a call centre... Why don't you as a branch send our concerns and or complaints on yourselves to the number and email you provide. Surely you as a branch should take this further yourself if you are getting so many negative reviews. This shouldnt be up to us, as your clie

It felt quite eerie walking into this enormous branch with only a few counters in operation. The lady at reception was very friendly and referred me to the Santyger branch for my forex requirements. Fortunately I could just walk there after having driven all the way from ABSA Paarl where the forex services are temporarily not available.
