Front desk persons had Very bad attitude
About 20 years ago, when I opened an account, I was supposed to receive a card with a security code, but it never arrived. So I went to the counter to inquire about it, and the elderly female bank employee behind the counter told me without any remorse that she had "thrown it away." I was infuriated. The staff member at the counter was a temporary worker, and the person sitting behind her was probably a Mizuho employee. I got the feeling that they didn't consider anyone other than major customers to be customers.
This was before the coronavirus pandemic. I had quit my job and went to open an account before finding my next job. I listed my occupation as unemployed. My purpose for opening the account was to save money. When I wrote this, the middle-aged woman with messy hair at the counter said in a forceful tone, "You're unemployed and you want to save money!?" She was so rude I didn't know what to say in response. I opened the account because I might need a city bank account at my new job, but fortunately I didn't need it, so I immediately withdrew the full amount. My balance is 0 yen, but I didn't go through the process of canceling it, so I'm leaving it as it is. I never want to go to the counter again.
This is a city bank located in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. It is one of Japan's megabanks. Parking is available nearby.
I went to open an account for my son, but the male staff member who was there when we entered was incredibly unfriendly. I feel like it was my own fault for going in without knowing that I had to make a reservation, but he said I couldn't do it without making one first. When I asked when they were open, he replied, "Do you have a smartphone? Visit their website and check." I feel like there could have been a more considerate way of putting it...
