I received extremely friendly and helpful service from 3 different employees on different occasions when visiting the branch. They dealt very well with my limited German knowledge and were able to help me with my questions. This was my primary interest when looking to open a bank with one of the local German branches in Mannheim. By far my best experience with any bank branch while in Germany, with the three other banks I tried being dismissive once they realized that my German was limited. Great reception and people makes the biggest difference for a banking experience, and that was what I got here.

Unreputable financial institution! My account was closed today, despite a large balance and no problems whatsoever. Then you have the pleasure of dealing with a computer system in Munich that doesn't even want to put you through. If you mention things like account closure or advisor, you have no chance of getting through. So, I said "investment," and lo and behold: I was put through. After calling three times to ask what had happened, and being assured each time that I would be called back, the call finally came, but the explanation was incredibly vague: "It was a business decision." A great explanation after almost 30 years of customer loyalty on my part. I strongly advise everyone against investing anything with this bank or leaving their money there. And then banks wonder why people do all their business online and avoid branches. The bank should be ashamed, and so should its employees.

Last week, my husband and I visited the HVB bank in Mannheim unannounced. We were warmly greeted by two employees and then given extremely competent advice. Both had time, great expertise, and a wonderful sense of humanity. We were very impressed by the high level of customer service. Many thanks to Ms. Zwezich and Ms. Hohenstein!

My experience at HypoVereinsbank Mannheim City Center I was in the branch today as a non-customer to withdraw cash with my credit card. During the transaction, my card was confiscated by the ATM. I immediately reported the incident to the staff present. An employee was very helpful and returned my card after I presented my ID. Shortly thereafter, however, another employee approached me and, without explanation and in an extremely rude tone, snatched the card from my hand. She said, in essence, that she didn't know what I intended to do with the card. I found this behavior disrespectful, aggressive, and completely inappropriate. This employee's behavior was unprofessional, unpleasant, and I felt she had discriminated against me. I hope the bank thoroughly investigates this incident. This employee doesn't even deserve one star!
