Dear Customer Service Team, I am writing regarding my wife’s account with your bank. We were aware that if the account balance falls below AED 3,000, a monthly fee of AED 26 would be charged. This policy is common across many banks in the UAE and we understood this condition. However, we recently discovered a different policy that we were not aware of. When the balance in the account falls below AED 26, the bank places the account into a negative balance and applies additional charges. In our case, AED 174 was charged on top of the AED 26 minimum balance fee under the description of interest. This does not make sense to us because this is a debit account, not a credit facility. We have never heard of customers paying interest on a debit card account. When we contacted customer service, we were simply told that “this is the policy” and that no reminders are sent to customers. Very hard to close the dollar account once it opened it increases charges in negative and if we tried to close it says unable to do so(from app) and when visiting branch they say call call center to waive off the fee but call center is not much listening and easy to operate. Very bad experience to this bank
