Swedbank 27 Södra Hamngatan Inom Vallgraven

Didn't have high hopes going here based on the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Despite lots of people in the queue, the staff worked efficiently and the waiting time was not too long. Was greeted professionally and got the help I needed.

My husband is a customer here. We called the bank to ask how I could open my own account. The answer was that I should go to the branch with all my and his documents and that my husband’s presence was not necessary because he works and doesn’t have time to wait in line. So the next day I went to the bank and waited at least 40 min. The employee told me she didn’t see a reason to give me an account because I don’t have a job yet. I explained that my husband would send me money until I get a job, that I need BankID for essential services, and when we called, they told us this wouldn’t be a problem at all. She then said I could use Freja (which doesn’t replace BankID for many important services). In other words, the bank didn’t want me as a customer. After that, I applied online for an account at Nordea. They booked an appointment for me, I was attended before the scheduled time, the staff was really friendly, and I opened my account in just a few minutes using only my ID kort.

I stood in the yard for a long time, in a long queue, the lady at the reception didn't even want to speak because I don't understand the language well, and she didn't help at all, along with the older lady. I needed a certificate of income, everything was clearly written on the paper. I moved to another branch, everything was done without any problems in three minutes

Long waiting time in the queue, only to finally get redirected to another queue and wait again. But most importantly, Swedbank is not interested in new customers opening bank accounts with them. Staff even advised me to "try other banks". Would have taken more than 3 months(!) to open a friggin bank account -- completely unacceptable. At least the guy I talked to was friendly and understood my frustration. My advice: try Nordea if you want to open an account quickly!

40min waiting time in the queue just to find out that next available appointment to create bank account is in February. 5 months waiting time is a joke. The question is are they even working there.
