I'm giving it one star because I can't give it less. My sister, a newly arrived student, went to open a bank account. The branch manager refused, claiming she only has a three-month student visa. I clearly explained that she would apply for a residence permit, but he wouldn't budge: "Sorry, there's nothing I can do." The problem is, she NEEDS THE ACCOUNT to prove her financial resources to the prefecture before September 10th. When I made the appointment to open the account, no one mentioned this "visa issue." In my mind, I was sure she would be able to open an account... Luckily, BNP Paribas accepted her, otherwise it would have caused her a major problem with the prefecture. The service was unprofessional and completely unacceptable.

I applied to open a business account for my company. I just launched the process. The board asked me for bank statements for the last three months, even though I don't have an account or anything yet. In the end, they refused my request. They're not exactly welcoming to foreigners. Go call your school and tell them this. The law says your institution is obligated to give me a statement refusing the application in this case. They didn't even think to do that. This is ridiculous.
