Unacceptable Language-Based Discrimination at BBVA Branch I visited the BBVA branch today to update the mobile phone number linked to my bank card - a simple, routine request. Upon arrival, the receptionist politely asked the purpose of my visit, and I explained it clearly in English. She printed a ticket and directed me to the service counters without issue. However, when my number was called and I approached counter number 3, the male employee immediately became visibly irritated upon realizing I spoke English. He aggressively stated that he only speaks Spanish and “understands nothing” in English. Despite my attempts to explain my request using simple English, gestures, and by showing both my old and new phone numbers on my mobile phone, his demeanor remained hostile and dismissive. He even muttered complaints in Spanish under his breath, clearly expressing frustration about having to assist a non-Spanish speaker. I politely asked whether any of his colleagues might speak English

So many bad reviews - I was really nervous about using ANY branch in Barcelona. BUT the appointment I had made before leaving the UK for 8:30am on Thursday 13 November was easily found on the system by SILVIA. Even with my poor Spanish, Sylvia understood my complicated problem and assisted me efficiently and professionally. I remained on the comfortable seating in the branch working on my iPad and then SUSANA helped me set up biometric banking with her PERFECT English and kind manner.

Very bad service from the person at the reception. I wanted to open account and she told me that i needed to stay in Spain minimum one years to be able open bank account in BBVA which is not true. I checked online and it completely lie.

The worst experience at a bank I have ever experienced or witnessed.saw one bank worker on her phone not helping customers. Another employee communicating via Gmail or checking/using Gmail while supposed to be working. I went on three occasions to verify my details to open an account. The first time told me go away and come back the next day the second day tilde me I needed an appointment and that they didn't have an appointment for another week. Went back for a third time and a different but equally incompetent even more vulgar (if you can believe that could be possible) server told me that they were busy and couldn't do anything.. they don't know how to work or even help people. The checking machine never works and people always skipping the que and going ip to the dest without a ticked because they know the employees. And then they say they will be fast and take a long time. If this is all BBVA'S avoid. But this bank location is truly the worst I have ever experienced.

Terrible experience. Tried to pay a bill there for the first time and was barked at by the cashier. At the start, he was suspicious about whether I had a wait list number (I did), then he was rude because I wasn't a bank client, suggesting that I use the ATM instead with a bank card. I wanted to clarify and asked if I could use a credit card, and he snapped and told me that's what he said. Finally, he pointed to a small sign next to him listing the non-client hours. The bank might want to consider adding that to their Google profile and posting them in a visible public area well before people meet the cashiers. However, I will never go back or give my business to a bank that treats new users so poorly.
