Today I went to the DBS Woodlands branch from 11:20 AM to 1:20 PM, and the queue was very long even though I only needed to change my PIN number. There are two counters for PIN changes, but only one staff member was working, and the process was very slow. There were only three people ahead of me, but the queue barely moved. The staff member handling the service seemed to be taking her own time, without considering that many customers were waiting, including elderly people. Thankfully, Mdm Siti arrived, and the queue started moving much faster. When I went in, I thanked her, and she apologized for the delay. Without her, I might have given up and left, even though there were only three people before me. This is already my second time experiencing slow service at DBS Woodlands. In comparison, the DBS Suntec branch is very fast, and all the staff there are very professional. I hope the management can look into this and improve the workflow, because the waiting time is too long and many
I arrived a little before opening hours and I was surprised by how many people were already queueing, so I was expecting the worst. In the end, it took a bit less than an hour in total, which I personally found reasonable. I also received great service. People tend to leave reviews only when they are angry, which I understand, especially if the service was poor or the waiting time was very long. That wasn’t the case for me, so I’m happy to leave 5 stars
As a leading Bank in Singapore, it is strange why they cannot improve on their app. See queues everytime I walked past the branch. Had delayed bringing our helper to reset her PIN becos of the persistent long queues for tye Video Teller Machine. Many others in the queues are here for the same purpose, as the PIN just cannot be reset on the phone app, not sure why. Same thing with previous helper too, set up the app and worked perfectly for a short while, then she could not log in despite keying in the correct PIN, she wrote the PIN down so it was not a case of forgetting the PIN. Is this a glitch that cannot be resolved? Then if it is becos of security issue and the foreign account holder has to be verified by a teller, virtual or otherwise, perhaps there should be a dedicated queue for one of the VTM to cater to just resetting PIN during peak hours, there are so many foreigners in the queue.
I visited DBS to open a personal account for my daughter as she has just turned 17, and at the same time to close our joint account. We were assisted by a banker named Imah, and the experience was excellent. Ms. Imah patiently guided us through every step of the process. As foreigners, we were required to provide specific documents linked to my daughter’s student visa, and she knew exactly which official website to access to obtain the correct information. This was especially appreciated, as we had previously visited the DBS Plaza Singapore branch and were turned away because they could not identify this document or advise where to get it. I even had to contact my daughter’s school to try to obtain the paperwork. Thanks to Ms. Imah’s knowledge and efficiency, the process went smoothly, and my daughter now has her own personal account. Thank you very much, Ms. Imah, for your professionalism and helpful support.
Earlier this morning, my parents encountered a tasteless encounter. It was their first time in this branch, and the first impression was very poor. My parents were asking around for directions to queue since there were multiple lines, but the responses from the staff, or lack thereof, was abysmal. The chinese staff in charge of opening the branch were unprofessional and impolite, ignoring my parents completely. They were not making eye contact or speaking, only pointing around randomly. It's not a matter of the staff being busy since a few other chinese customers were asking them questions as well. Even while they were busy, they suddenly had the time to speak politely to these customers but went back to ignoring my parents when they tried asking again. I'm not saying that it was racial discrimination since it's Singapore and we should have already learned to be open-minded to other races by now, but it was still impolite and unprofessional to ignore customers of a different race.
